Hear Reunited Smashing Pumpkins' Stuttering, Soaring New Song "Solara"

Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin release first new cut together in 18 years

Since the Smashing Pumpkins' re-formation with Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin began, there's been talk from all parties involved about them writing new music together. Today we get to hear one of the end results, in the form of their new single "Solara," the trio's first offering since 2000. Right from the jump, it's easy to hear that the chemistry between the three musicians is still there, and that they were focused on writing a track that's straight-up fun above all else, rather than try to push the band to do anything too outside their collective comfort zone. Produced by Rick Rubin, the songĀ also features longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder, and builds to Corgan's layered chorus: "Tear down the sun/Bring down the sun/I'm not everyone/I'm not everyone/I'm not everyone."

"Solara" will get its television debut this Monday, June 11th, when the Pumpkins appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform it live.
