Leeched's New Song "The Stone and the Steel" Is Filthy, Vicious Awesomeness

Rising U.K. hardcore trio shocks and awes with latest cut off upcoming debut album

Leeched are a hot new trio out of Manchester, England, who play vitriolic grindcore with an industrial underbelly. Barely a year into their career, the lads — singer/bassist Laurie Morbey, guitarist Judd Langley, and drummer Tom Hansell — have built a strong local following, thanks to last fall's inaugural EP Nothing Will Grow From the Rotten Ground, a filth-caked mélange of rancid crust grooves, punishing hardcore choruses and Convergesque bravado. Leeched have since inked with metal institution Prosthetic Records for their debut full-length, You Took the Sun When You Left, due out August 24th.

In anticipation of the release, they've unveiled "The Stone and the Steel," a menacing new song that frames Leeched's all-out aggression against a mournful ambient backdrop. "These pillars have always been weak," declares Morbey in the opening verse, each bellowed syllable dripping with disgust for the status quo. "I'm dreaming of a desert, but it's lost on me."

"It's no frills and straight to the point," Morbey wrote in a statement about of the new ripper. "We wanted it to be as hard-hitting and violent as possible. The song doesn't follow a standard structure it — it progresses in a way that felt natural when it was written."
