Hear Savages Side Project 180dB's Confrontational New Song "Road Trip"

Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner and Perfect Pussy's Meredith Graves guest

The rhythm section driving English post-punks Savages has branched off for a side project, 180dB, that allows for a more aggressive, experimental sound and a supporting cast of music scene notables. Today marks the launch of that project's debut single, "Road Trip," featuring the combative stream-of-consciousness shoutings by Perfect Pussy vocalist Meredith Graves and the cyclical, anxious riffing of Nick Zinner, guitarist for New York rock luminaries Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The resulting effect of the all-star collaboration is a dizzying whir of pseudo spoken-word noise-rock.

The driving forces of the project, Ayse Hassan and Fay Milton, began work on the single last year when the latter met British musician and DJ Goldie, who played her a then-unreleased collaboration with rapper Skepta titled "Upstart - Road Trip" and asked for a "raging punk" makeover of the track. Recorded in Los Angeles and London before its mastering in New York, the final product is a total departure from the original, and its international flavor hints at what's to come from the continued efforts of 180dB. The duo are currently working on a full-length slated for an early 2019 arrival.

You can pre-order 7-inch vinyl of "Road Trip" via Bandcamp. The single's official release will come Friday, September 21st, on Midnight Feast.
