Sleep Token — a.k.a. the Ghost of djent, as we've called them — are back to kick off the new year with a stunning new song, "Chokehold." The anonymous U.K. collective, who perform in masks and black hoods, dropped the single, which follows in the haunting, genre-bending vein of their previous releases, along with a cool animated video that starring a strange arachnid creature decked out in sci-fi-looking armor and brandishing a badass axe. "Chokehold" marks Sleep Token's first new music since the late 2021 release of their acclaimed second album, This Place Will Become Your Tomb. Revolver previously named their 2019 debut, Sundowning, one of the 10 most essential djent albums of all time, alongside landmark LPs from Meshuggah, Periphery and Animals as Leaders.
