Hear Slipknot's "Before I Forget" Meet B-52s' "Love Shack" on Insane New Mashup

This works a little too well

In a twisted turn of WTF events, mashup artist Bill McClintock has blown metal minds everywhere again by creating perhaps his greatest Frankensteinian creature to date: a remix that seamlessly blends the B-52s' Eighties classic "Love Shack" with Slipknot's 2004 basher "Before I Forget."

By beginning the track with the smooth, retro-electronic tones of the former's glory, Corey Taylor's gruff roar comes into tight focus without the normal commotion of Slipknot's massive lineup to overpower the subtleties of his talent. Taking only light passages from "Love Shack" rather than using his usual 50/50 melding of the tunes, it sounds more as though Taylor is fronting the actual B-52s in lieu of Fred Schneider, Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson.

The result is decidedly splendid — a track no one could resist on the right sort of dance floor. A brief mid-song breakdown lets the Slipknot track's gnarled side shine before a surprise guitar solo by the one and only Zakk Wylde cuts in to steal the spotlight momentarily, only to lead back into one final chorus before the whole thing ends in uproarious canned applause, possibly yanked from the stitched together concert footage used for the tune's hodgepodge music video.
