Soulfly have unleashed another full-metal-banger into the world today in the form of "Filth Upon Filth." The third single from their upcoming album, Totem, due out next month, makes it crystal clear that Max Cavalera and Co. have moved beyond the groove-metal sound that once defined this band and embraced the frontman's savage thrash roots.
The accompanying animated video by Costin Chioreanu has some undeniable old-school Sepultura vibes. "Costin has created an amazing, savage rendition of the song! This is a song made by a Headbanger, for Headbangers!" Cavalera said of the video. Watch and listen above via YouTube.
Totem was produced by Cavalera and Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Code Orange, Ghostemane), and it boasts guest appearances from John Powers (Eternal Champion), John Tardy (Obituary) and Chris Ulsh (Power Trip).
