Soulfly have announced their 12th album, Totem, for an August 5th release via Nuclear Blast, and unleashed the LP's lead single, "Superstition." Opening with a brief, scene-setting intro of tribal drumming, the song quickly launches into an all-out thrash assault over which frontman Max Cavalera delivers his signature bellows. The band, which has featured live guitarist Dino Cazares (Fear Factory) on recent tours, is currently rounded out by bassist Mike Leon and drummer Zyon Cavalera, Max's son. "Totem is a celebration of the spiritual nature," Max commented of the LP. "It was a two-year journey writing with Zyon. This album is about all the joy, the fun and the anger in Metal."

Produced by Max alongside Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Code Orange, Ghostemane), Totem boasts guest appearances from John Powers (Eternal Champion), Chris Ulsh (Power Trip) and John Tardy (Obituary). Rizk also played all the lead guitar on the album.
