Spiritbox and ILLENIUM each had big years in 2021. The Canadian metal trio helmed by Courtney LaPlante dropped their debut album, Eternal Blue, and became one of the fastest rising groups in heavy music, earning lavish praise from critics and fans alike. ILLENIUM is an electronic producer and DJ whose 2021 opus Fallen Embers is up for Best Electronic Album at the 2022 Grammys.
While they both come from completely different sides of the musical map, they decided to link up on a new song called "Shivering" that merges both of their sounds into one coherent piece. Courtney LaPlante's soaring clean vocals dominate the hook while her devilish screams sound off above squelchy dubstep production during the heavy breakdowns. Check out "Shivering" above via YouTube.
It's not ILLENIUM's first metal crossover effort. The producer previously teamed with I Prevail, as well as fellow EDM artist Excision, on the 2020 club banger "Feel Something."
