Hear Spiritbox's Infectious New Stomper "Hurt You"

Latest 'Eternal Blue' single arrives with horror-themed video

September 17th cannot come soon enough — because that's when Eternal Blue, the long-awaited debut album from metal rising stars Spiritbox, is finally set to drop. So far this year, the Vancouver-based trio, led by former Iwrestledabearonce singer Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Mike Stringer, have offered up three singles from the LP, "Circle With Me," "Secret Garden" and "Hurt You," the last dropped today (August 19th). Featuring a stomping nu-metal riff and massive chorus, the song arrived along with a gripping horror-themed music video in the vein of Spiritbox's past horror-inspired clips like "Holy Roller." Watch and listen above.

"'Hurt You' is a song that was written before the pandemic, in early 2020 during a snowstorm," Stringer commented. "We were stuck inside, and couldn't go anywhere, so this song flowed out of myself, Courtney and our producer, Dan, pretty quick. The subject matter of the song explores toxic codependency, and the feeling of knowing that something is doomed to fail, but making the choice to go down with the ship. The video, directed by Dylan Hryciuk, is horror-inspired, and depicts love in four different acts. It's the first video we've made where we do not make an appearance, and allow the story to be the main focus."

Spiritbox previously debuted "Hurt You" live on their short-lived summer tour with Limp Bizkit, which was cut short due to COVID spikes. Check out fan-shot footage of one of those performances below.
