Hear Statiqbloom Channel Skinny Puppy on Haunting New Song "Thin Hidden Hand"

NYC industrial duo's latest track from forthcoming EP 'Infinite Spectre' arrives with dreamlike music video

Statiqbloom is the brainchild of Fade Kainer, a German-born, Brooklyn-based instrumentalist best known for his stints in Tombs and Theologian. Originally conceived in 2013 as a solo endeavor, the EBM-trafficking operation has since expanded into a two-man enterprise, following the enlistment of producer Denman C Anderson. On the heels of last year's full-length Blue Moon Blood, the pair are set to release a new six-track EP called Infinite Spectre on July 27th via Translation Loss.

Ahead of the release, they've unveiled "Thin Hidden Hand" — a demonic, danceable merger of black-metal vocals, industrial beats and subtle melodies hearkening back to the glory days of Skinny Puppy and Godflesh, by way of Front 242's pulsing grooves and Clan of Xymox's desolate beauty. According to Kainer, the song's nightmarish traits were very much by design: "The song is about the subconscious reaching out through dreams and nightmares," he says.

The accompanying music video, directed by Katrin Albert, underscores the delirious aesthetic even further, layering blurred shots of the duo wandering the New York City streets. "It's my take on disorienting paranoia," Albert explains. "It felt like it was 10 below zero while we filmed the walking scenes around Brooklyn — You can see how desolate and oppressive is was as we wandered deep in the tunnels under the city."
