Last summer, to commemorate Pink Floyd's fiftieth anniversary, Sword guitarist Kyle Shutt rounded up some pals and created Doom Side of the Moon, a heavy-metal reworking of the Brits' iconic album Dark Side of the Moon. Following the project's live debut last August, Shutt's band of the same name — rounded out by Sword bandmates Bryan Richie (bass) and Santiago Vela III, (drums), Brownout's Alex Marrero (vocals), Jason Frey (saxophone), and Joe Cornetti (keyboards) — have proffered up another doomy-as-fuck tribute to the psych legends: Encore, a three-track EP, out today, January 12th.

Recorded at Big Orange Recording Studios in Austin, Texas with Grammy-winning producer Stuart Sikes (Cat Power, Polyphonic Spree), Doom Side of the Moon's latest EP contains previously-unheard takes on Wish You Were Here's "Have a Cigar" and title track, plus Animals' "Pigs (Three Different Ones)." Check out the group's trippy visualizer for "Have a Cigar" now for a taste of what to expect.

Doom Side of the Moon's Encore EP is available now via major streaming services and online. A 12-inch "sludged out" green vinyl pressing will follow in March; it can be pre-ordered here.
