Hear SYSTEM OF A DOWN singer SERJ TANKIAN's heavy new solo song "A.F. Day"

Singer lays heavy foundation for next solo era

It's been a big week for Serj Tankian. First, he published his tell-all Down With the System: A Memoir (Of Sorts). This morning (May 17th), he delivered that previously promised new solo single that lays the Foundations for his next EP. But on the other hand, as the heavy eccentric puts it in the song, it's still just "another fucking day!"

The newly delivered "A.F. Day" starts up as an oddly seasick garage-metal stomp-out, with the System of a Down frontman talking about unending rent woes, systemic police violence, blind faith futility and more. And waking up each morning just locks him back into a time loop.

As the song comes to a breaking point near the chorus, Tankian's nervous burble erupts into a fearsome, cycle-castigating conclusion: It's just another fucking day.

"Today, I'm excited to release 'A.F. Day' from my forthcoming solo EP 'Foundations'," Tankian wrote on X, adding "This previously unreleased song was written over 20 years ago at a very early time in my musical career."

As previously reported, Tankian's Foundations will be his first rock-based solo project since 2022's Perplex Cities EP. An official street date has yet to be pegged for the upcoming release. Stay tuned.
