Hear Today Is the Day's 'In the Eyes of God' Reissue, Featuring Members of Mastodon

Bill Kelliher and Brann Dailor lent talents to avant-metal outfit's 1999 album

2017's been a busy year for Today is the Day, and for good reason – this year marks a quarter century of chaos from the Nashville noise-rock stalwarts, led by mainman Steve Austin. 25th anniversary festivities kicked off in January with greatest-hits collection Silver Anniversary, followed by a tour in celebration of 1997's Temple of the Morning Star (the European leg of which starts tomorrow). They'll keep the party going this week with a reissue of 1999's album In the Eyes of God, which holds a special place in Today is the Day's discography: it's their only full-length to feature the lineup of frontman/guitarist Austin, bassist Bill Kelliher, and drummer Brann Dailor, the latter two of whom would eventually go on to form a little band called Mastodon.

Arriving tomorrow (September 22nd) via The End, Today Is the Day's In the Eyes of God reissue boasts a fresh remaster, courtesy of Austin and Maor Appelbaum. Both the CD and digital versions contain demos of all 20 songs, with the CD packing in even more exclusive demo bonus tracks culled from Austin's archives. Ahead of its impending release, the band have teamed up with Revolver to premiere the reissue in full. Listen now, and pre-order it here.

"In 1999, I set out to make the fastest and most technical Today Is the Day record I could," Austin says of In the Eyes of God. "The record was recorded in full three times, with the third version being the one we released. The second time we demoed, the album came out really great, and could have been the released version. So, with this reissue, the listener can hear the progression of the record being made. Brann Dailor's drumming and Bill Kelliher's bass playing was a perfect fit for this out-of-control album."
