It's been eight long years since Tomahawk — the weirdo-rock supergroup featuring Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, etc.), Duane Denison (the Jesus Lizard), Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle) and John Stanier (Helmet) — graced us with a new album, 2013's Oddfellows, and seven since they offered up a new song, 2014's "M.E.A.T." The latter drought ended today (January 21st) with the release of "Business Casual," the lead single off the group's upcoming LP, Tonic Immobility, which will end the former drought come March 26th.
Slithery and venomous, "Business Casual" is "a mocking look at the life of work in America," according to Denison. Of the new album, he adds, "Tonic Immobility could just be something in the air we're feeling. It's been a rough year between the pandemic and everything else. A lot of people feel somewhat powerless and stuck as they're not able to make a move without second guessing themselves or worrying about the outcomes. For as much as the record possibly reflects that, it's also an escape from the realities of the world. We're not wallowing in negativity or getting political. For me, rock has always been an alternate reality to everything else. I feel like this is yet another example."
Tonic Immobility is available for pre-order now across an array of collectible formats: digital, CD digipak and 180-gram LP in textured gatefold packaging.
