Hear Torche's Massive New Dirge for "Nights You Don't Remember"

Doom-pop quartet's latest single "Times Missing" is a warm, fuzzy haze of dulcet reverb and lost memories

Doom-pop flame-keepers Torche are all set to release their first new record in over four years next month before heading out for a month-long summer tour in July, and today they've teamed with Revolver to premiere their massive new single, "Times Missing."

Making the most of their signature chest-rumbling, feedback-soaked sludge, the foursome's latest plays out like a nostalgic trip through joyful times long gone, laden with melancholic repeater riffs that stir up a gloomy, pensive mood. Vocalist Steve Brooks' gorgeously forlorn delivery draws in the listener with its hypnotic drone, allowing for subtle accents in the music to shine through as the track's thick atmosphere swirls.

"'Times Missing' is a Jekyll and Hyde song about the nights you don't remember, but everyone else does," Brooks explains, evoking the foggy anxiety of a bad hangover. Post-bender or not, the central theme of lost time and missing memories is one of universal appeal as we all lose moments as age and life take their toll. Leaning hard into this tough reality, the song serves as a touching, relatable elegy to the unforgiving onward march of time.

Torche's coming record, Admission, is set to drop via Relapse Records on July 12th. Pre-orders are available in physical and digital formats at this location, and the band will kick off its next string of dates on July 8th in Tampa, Florida, following two festival appearances later this month.
