Hear Touché Amoré's Fiery New Ross Robinson–Produced Song "Deflector"

L.A. post-hardcore vets pair with nu-metal architect to channel anxiety into gorgeous art

Touché Amoré have never lacked for raw, unfettered emotion, but the Los Angeles post-hardcore crew wanted to dig even deeper for their latest song "Deflector" so they went to the godfather of the nu-metal himself, producer Ross Robinson, whose sometimes nearly-terroristic tactics helped Korn, Slipknot and others revitalize the heavy-music landscape through deep and often harrowing psychological self-exploration.

"This time around, we need to take a chance with the unfamiliar," explained Touché Amoré singer Jeremy Bolm in an Instagram post. "Someone who would take us out of our comfort zone. Enter Ross Robinson. A man who knows no comfort zone." Listing off artists who've worked with Robinson, including the Cure, Sepultura and At the Drive-In, the frontman continueed, "When we returned from the Midwest tour we entered the studio to record a song with Ross and see if there was chemistry ..." and chemistry there was.

The resulting single is a spastic, tempestuous ode to anxiety and discomfort couched in alternately delicate guitar meanderings and huge swells of passionate attack. Spanning only three and a half minutes but giving an impression of expansive depth and weight, the cut is a stirring testament to Touché Amoré's persistent talent, as well as to Robinson's ability to wrench deeply moving performances from his collaborators.

"Deflector" can be heard in full above now, and an exclusive 7-inch featuring the song along with a previously released track, "Green," on olive green with white splatter vinyl is available for order through the band's store. You can catch Touché Amoré live when they co-headline in Europe with Deafheaven later this month, or when they come back to North America and hit the road with La Dispute in November.
