Hear Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross' Haunting David Bowie "Life on Mars?" Cover for 'Watchmen'

Nine Inch Nails' core duo takes stripped-down, instrumental approach to glam-rock classic

HBO's Watchmen TV series — the grim "modern-day reimagining" of Alan Moore's vigilante/superhero graphic novel — boasts an appropriately epic, brooding score by master dark-vibe creators: Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. After releasing the series' seething, dancey instrumental end credits, the pair have just shared their reworking of David Bowie's Honky Dory standout "Life on Mars?" (which appeared in the Watchmen's seventh episode, "An Almost Religious Awe.")

Reznor and Ross strip the spacey 1971 track to its emotional core on their sparse instrumental take. The pair is releasing the Watchmen score in three installments, Volume 1 and 2 arrived in November and the final offering, which contains "Life on Mars?," drops on December 6th.
