That's singer Bert McCracken talking about the Used's new song, aptly titled "Fuck You," which they released today (October 21st) as a one-off single. McCracken is right. Sometimes it really just feels so cathartic and empowering to scream that holy epithet at the top of your lungs, and the 2000s emo titans do just that on this new track.
Over the last 20 years, their sound has drifted from side to side on the heavy-catchy spectrum, and "Fuck You" sits squarely in the raucous pop-punk part of their sound. It's big, it's anthemic, but it's still raw and ragged. Listen above via YouTube.
