Hear Will Haven's Epic New Song Featuring Deftones' Stephen Carpenter

"El Sol" to appear on Sacramento band's forthcoming LP 'Muerte'

Whether collaborating with fans and friends such as the Deftones' Chino Moreno and Far's Shaun Lopez (who co-produced 2007's The Hierophant) or Slipknot's Chris Fehn (who played bass on 2011's Voir Dire), Will Haven have been making compelling and highly influential atmospheric noise metal since their formation in 1995, and invited their extended family to be part of it. They've taken shit next level with album No. 6, Muerte (Spanish for "death"), which is gorgeous yet corrosive, suffocating yet expansive. Will Haven have roped in some cool collaborators here, too — YOB's Mike Scheidt appears on the sludgy "No Escape," and first single "El Sol" — which sees its worldwide premiere above — was co-written by Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter, who laid down an array of his signature down-tuned riffage.

"If Will Haven and Deftones had a kid, that's what it would sound like," guitarist Jeff Irwin enthuses of "El Sol." "I was in my first band with Stephen. This was really a family thing. While we were in the studio, he sent us an email with an eight-minute song of all riffs. I added the spacey elements. Our vocalist, Grady, is reciting this famous poem about being kind to your fellow man and taking care of each other. Lyrically, it fits the times."

Muerte is set for release on March 23rd via minus HEAD Records. You can pre-order it now via Bandcamp and Amazon digital.
