Metallica, Exodus, Death Angel, Primal Rite. When it comes to thrashy goodness, nobody does it quite like the Bay Area. Local hellions Wolf King are the latest mosh-pit mavens looking to bust out of the regional circuit, on the back of their debut album, Loyal to the Soil, due out April 27th. Before then, though, we must hail — "Hail the Ash," that is. Half metallic Molotov cocktail, half sludgy wall o' death, its punishing breakdowns and sawtooth guitars testify to the group's self-described "blackened hardcore" sound.
"'Hail the Ash' sets the mood for [Loyal to the Soil] with power and speed," the band comments of the track. "The lyrics create the theme that persists through the rest of the album, which is to show no mercy in the pursuit of finding your calling and reaching your greatest potential."
