Hear Young Widows' Gothic Post-Punk Song "Checked In/Out" From New Rarities LP

Previously unreleased track will appear on Kentucky band's upcoming collection 'DECAYED: Ten Years of Cities, Wounds, Lightness, and Pain'

Formed in 2006, Kentucky act Young Widows was created after the fall of the much loved math-y unit Breather Resist, and released favorites like the Old Wounds LP and Easy Pain that showcased their creative breadth: from post-hardcore to Am-Rep-isms to even Nick Cave post-punk darkness. The path of their career is very much worth looking into on its own, as is Temporary Residence Ltd's latest release: DECAYED: Ten Years of Cities, Wounds, Lightness, and Pain. Due on June 8, the compilation of b-sides, rarities and singles gives an interesting glimpse into the mindset of the band across all of their recorded output.

Unheard until now, the LP contains the gothic post-punk burner "Checked In/Out" a track recorded in 2010 by Kevin Ratterman. Though the song could easily fit on their last LP, 2014's Easy Pain, it was recorded four years earlier around the In and Out of Youth and Lightness era, which gives a fascinating insight into their early trajectory. Besides all of that, it's a total ripper, check it out below, and pre-order your copy here.

Young Widows will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Old Wounds with a series of gigs early next month — including an appearance at a show to celebrate the life and art of late Cave In bassist Caleb Scofield that will also feature Cave In, Converge and more. See those dates below:
