Steve Moore is a multi-instrumentalist best known for his work in Zombi: a post-rock duo who take ample cues from famed scorers such as John Carpenter of Halloween fame. After breaking out as a stand-alone composer in recent years with his chilling soundtracks for 2014's The Cub and last year's The Mind's Eye, Moore returns to the cinema this week with a 35-track score for Mayhem, a new action/horror/comedy film starring Steven Yeun ("The Walking Dead," Okja). Today, he's linked up with Revolver to premiere "Bullets Are for Cowards," a forlorn new-wave rager that soundtracks the epic battle between humble protagonist Derek (Yeun) and his arch-nemesis, "The Bull."
"In this scene, Derek, mild-mannered corporate attorney pushed beyond the breaking point, is forced to battle super badass level boss 'The Bull' [André Eriksen] – armed with only a screwdriver," Moore explains. "Yeun's hilariously outmatched everyman versus Eriksen's calm, cool psychopath was a lot of fun to score. The feel is sort of Nitzer Ebb meets Axxess meets Dust Brothers with lots of keytar."
