In 2019, veteran rock journalist Christina Rowatt tagged along with Baltimore feminist hardcore-punk band War on Women as they played the Australian Download Festival to get a musician's eye perspective on what it means to be a female metal artist in heavy music these days. Questions she wanted to explore included: "What do musicians really think about women in rock and feminism?" "How have things changed and how haven't they in the worlds of punk rock and heavy metal?" "If feminism is about equality, what is the real shared experience of 99 percent of rock bands right now?"
What emerged from the experience is the new short documentary Her War Is Our War, which Revolver is stoked to premiere. In addition to War on Women — and in a particular, the group's powerhouse vocalist Shawna Potter, who serves as a central figure — the film also features Halestorm's Lzzy Hale, punk veterans Rise Against, Boston hardcore leaders Converge and Judas Priest touring guitarist and producer Andy Sneap.
