High on Fire's Matt Pike Shares Gnarly Pic of Partially Amputated Toe

Presenting the photo exactly nobody wanted but everyone will inevitably see, High on Fire and Sleep's Matt Pike unleashed a peek at his partially amputated, post-surgery toe. It's as nauseating as one might expect, with the entirety of the nail bed missing and a bloody, scaly scab growing backward from the site of removal. As grizzled and raw as Pike's cigarette-soaked voice and weathered face are, the image (below) is not for the faint of heart — look only if you're intrigued by medical oddities and gross-out content galore.

While fans are still left with no explanation as to what led the High on Fire frontman to deserve this fate, the band took the opportunity to share a tongue-in-cheek promotion of their new album, captioning the haunting image "ELECTRIC MESSIAH. OUT NOW!!! LINK IN BIO." Their appearance on the upcoming Speed of the Wizard tour with Municipal Waste may be canceled, but the group seems to have taken this in (limping) stride and will soldier on through the infamous shredder's ailments. Follow the official High On Fire Instagram for updates and further announcements (and horrors such as this), and pick up a hard copy of the October/November edition of Revolver featuring an in-depth cover story on Pike as part of our "Explorers"-themed issue.
