Norwegian black-metal forefathers Mayhem found themselves under a new spotlight recently with the release of the long-gestating film Lords of Chaos, which focuses on their notorious story, full of suicide, murder, church-burning and, of course — what all too often gets overlooked — hugely influential music. The band— Necrobutcher (bass), Hellhammer (drums), Attila Csihar (vocals), Teloch (guitar) and Ghul (guitar) — are about to add to that deep musical catalog, which already includes at least two bona fide genre masterpieces, 1987's Deathcrush EP and 1994's De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. Mayhem just announced their forthcoming as-yet-untitled sixth album, set for release October 25th via their new label, Century Media.

"Once again Mayhem is writing a new chapter in its 35 year history," the band commented in a statement. "We are excited to now have joined forces with Century Media and are eager to see what this partnership can do for us both in the future."

Mayhem have also announced a big European fall headlining tour in support of the record. The trek will see them joined by special guests Gaahls, WYRD and Gost. See dates below.
