Ivanka Trump has outed herself as a onetime punk and diehard Nirvana fan in her mother's recently published memoir, Raising Trump — in her own words, natch. The excerpts, which first surfaced via The Cut, detail the entrepreneur's rebellious "punk phase" in the Nineties, and — in a spectacular, mind-boggling non-sequitur — her reaction to Kurt Cobain's death in 1994.
"During my punk phase in the Nineties, I was really into Nirvana," Ivanka writes of her musical tastes, before pivoting to fashion: "My wardrobe consisted of ripped corduroy jeans and flannel shirts ... One day after school, I dyed my hair blue."
The heiress (and now, apparently, erstwhile punk) goes on to recall "major melodrama" in the Trump household following Kurt Cobain's suicide. "It was a shock and I was distraught," she writes. "Mom had no idea who Kurt Cobain was, and she sympathized only so much. After twenty-four hours of my crying inconsolably in my room, alone — major melodrama — Mom had to pull me out of there to go down to dinner."
Same, Ivanka. Same.
