Judas Priest, Rage Against the Machine Nominated for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

2018 shortlist also features Depeche Mode, Radiohead, Kate Bush

Judas Priest and Rage Against the Machine have been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The heavy-metal Brits and rap-metal Californians made the long list of 2018 nominees, which includes Radiohead, Kate Bush, Nina Simone, Eurythmics, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Depeche Mode, MC5, LL Cool J, Bon Jovi, the Zombies, and others. Of the 19 lucky artists who made the list, Radiohead and Rage Against the Machine are the only ones to have earned nominations in their first year of eligibility (Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after their first official recording; Rage's self-titled debut LP was released in 1992.)

The final crop of 2018 Rock Hall inductees will decided by a committee of 900 artists, historians and music-industry professionals. Fans can vote as well, by submitting a ballot with their five favorite artists via the Rock Hall website and select media outlets. Voting begins today, October 5th; polls close December 5th. The final list of inductees will be announced later that month, with the official ceremony to follow April 14th in Cleveland, according to Rolling Stone.
