Sick of It All are one of the most influential and important New York Hardcore bands of all time, and for Killswitch Engage singer Jesse Leach, the band helmed by Pete and Lou Koller are credited with releasing the single greatest hardcore song ever.

Answering fan questions in Metal Hammer, Leach responded to a query about his favorite hardcore song with an inspired choice: Sick of It All's "We Stand Alone." The track, found on the hardcore band's 1992 album, Just Look Around, is a barn burner of furious riffs and inspiring lyrics. See what Leach had to say about the song below.

"We Stand Alone"

That song encapsulates why I love hardcore and punk. It's a total protest song. When I was younger, looking for my identity, I didn't fit in with the mainstream, I didn't fit in with the cool kids, I didn't fit in with all these people. Sick of It All were one of those bands that made me proud. That song was all about standing on your own. You don't need help from anybody or society, you don't have to follow all the laws that they throw at you, think for yourself.
