At May's Rockstock Festival in England, a Korn tribute band called Korn Again proved themselves highly dedicated to their craft when drummer Alex Headen suffered a stroke during "Helmet in the Bush" but somehow managed to finish the song one-handed before collapsing into his kit.
"I didn't want to stop the song because it was so early in the set. I didn't want to let the band or crowd down," the percussionist told The Manchester Evening News. "Never in a million years did I think I was having a stroke. I just thought I had low blood sugar or was dehydrated."
Headen made a deal with himself to get through the track, recalling, "I thought 'If I get through this song I can grab a fizzy drink or a bite to eat and carry on.'" He says he lost vision in his right eye while playing, leading to his single-armed approach to completing the song.
Luckily the drummer is safe now, but news of his ordeal made it all the way to the real Korn. Bassist Brian "Head" Welch made an Instagram post about the news, relaying his surprise in the caption then commenting on his own post "Free passes!" a short time later.
