UPDATE: In an interview with KLOS 95.5, Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer offered his own explanation for why his band won't be playing Follow the Leader in full at the three 20th anniversary shows scheduled for later this year. "There's some songs that we did collaborations. We [had guest appearances by] Tre from the Pharcyde, which is a hip-hop group. Ice Cube — everybody knows Ice Cube — and Fred from Limp Bizkit," he said referencing the tracks "Children of the Korn," "All in the Family" and "Cameltosis." "So those are the songs that are, like, 'OK, well, we can't really recreate that.' But we're gonna play a handful of the songs that people haven't heard and maybe we haven't played in 20 years."
ORIGINAL STORY, 6/14/18: Korn's Follow the Leader, which turns 20 later this year, may be the nu-metal originator's most commercially successful record and a milestone in the history of metal and hip-hop crossover, but it's also not an album that holds up across all 13 of its tracks (14, if you count the hidden Cheech & Chong cover). All killer, no filler is not a phrase that applies. Korn singer Jonathan Davis and his bandmates appear to agree, and as such, they won't be playing the album in full at the three 20th anniversary shows scheduled for later this year.
"We're not gonna do it in its entirety," Davis revealed to 93.3 WMMR radio. "There's a couple of songs that are just dumb," he laughed, "that we don't wanna play. We were really drunk when we made 'em. But we're gonna play the majority of the record."
Davis recently released and toured in support of his debut solo album, Black Labyrinth.
