It's been a wild ride since Lamb of God were robbed last week following a Phoenix, Arizona performance at the Ak-Chin Pavilion on their current tour with Slayer, Amon Amarth, and Cannibal Corpse. Following an Instagram post in which guitarist Willie Adler called out the thieves and posted a picture of the stolen goods in question (see below), Phoenix New Times reports that a fan, identified as Jay Thrash, noticed Adler's ESP "Warbird" six-string for sale on website OfferUp.com and attempted to track down the sellers and enact vigilante justice.
After reportedly bidding on the guitar, Thrash said to his friends, "I sent him full offer. Tryna see if i can meet up ... beat his fuckin' ass."
Thrash instead notified police about the ad, and subsequently messaged Adler to see if the guitarist would share the guitar's serial number to confirm its identify.
"That's 100 percent mine," Adler reportedly responded, adding "Waiting on serial ... But dude, I'll pay ya the 300 bones to cover ya. I just want this asshole to get his teeth knocked out. Bout to head to stage to play a show. Keep me posted man. And thank you."
Unfortunately, the thief got cold feet and didn't respond when Thrash attempted to set a meeting time. "I think we lost em guys," he updated the folks waiting to hear more. "Even changed his profile pic..."
"We have yet to name a suspect or recover either guitar," Phoenix Police Sergeant Vince Lewis told Phoenix New Times. "Our investigators are actively working this case. The more we release, the harder it becomes to catch up with a suspect or locate these items before either go underground or into the wind."
Phoenix Police urge anyone with information to call Silent Witness at 480-W-I-T-N-E-S-S, or for Spanish, 480-T-E-S-T-I-G-O, for a possible reward of up to $1,000.
