After much speculation, Lamb of God have officially parted ways with co-founding drummer Chris Adler (pictured above, on the far left), brother of guitarist Willie Adler. The band broke the news via social media today, July 19th, and further revealed that Art Cruz, who has been playing with LOG since 2018 and previously cut his teeth in Winds of Plague and Prong, is now a full-time member of the group.
"We'd like to officially welcome Art Cruz, who has been playing drums with us on tour for the last year, as the new drummer of Lamb of God. Art will be joining us in the studio as we begin pre-production and recording of a new album," the band posted. "We're very proud of everything this band has accomplished over the last two decades. We would like to thank Chris Adler for his contributions over the years and wish him the best in his future endeavors." You can read the full statement below.
Chris played with Lamb of God before they were even called Lamb of God, drumming alongside singer Randy Blythe, guitarist Mark Morton and bassist John Campbell in the pre-LOG group Burn the Priest. He has appeared on all the group's albums. In 2016, he joined Megadeth and played on that year's Dystopia. In 2017, the drummer had a bad motorcycle accident that prevented him from actively touring and, in 2018, Cruz began playing in his stead in LOG. Earlier this month, it was announced that Adler would be teaming with Exodus singer Steve "Zetro" Souza, former Machine Head guitarist Phil Demmel and ex-Megadeth bassist James LoMenzo for a series of shows this fall under the name HAIL!
