Back in October, Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton confirmed on Twitter that his collaboration with the late Chester Bennington would indeed see the light of day, telling fans "you will hear it!" Now with the release of his lead single "The Truth Is Dead" out and the album Anesthetic inching closer to its March 1st release date, Morton has opened up to Metal Hammer about working with the Linkin Park singer and he never expected "superstar" Bennington to show interest in the project.

"I was really impressed for a guy at his level, at the place in the career he was at, someone of his stature and celebrity, to have that level of humility and commitment to come in there and treat this like it would be a Linkin Park song, or his own song or whatever," Morton told the publication, "after the track was laid out, then we took a breath and started talking about more personal stuff – real-life shit. And yeah… he surprised me the most."

The guitarist describes the meeting as happening as a result of his people calling Bennington's people, and how there were some legal holes to jump through but the late front man's interest in the track kept him around to record. "On the creative side, he was in from the jump. And I didn't realize how in he really was, but when he showed up I did, and that was humbling for me," remembers Morton.

Anesthetic will also feature guest contributions from Mark Lanegan, Papa Roach's Jacoby Shaddix, Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy, Morton's Lamb Of God band mate Randy Blythe, and more. Pre-order a copy now via Spinefarm Records
