Fans of Avenged Sevenfold have been waiting nearly six long years for the band to release a follow up to The Stage. The world has changed quite a bit since we last heard from the O.C. metal titans, but a tweet from frontman M. Shadows in the studio tracking vocals is a good sign that things are moving at camp A7X. Shadows tweeted a POV photo of a microphone, a female mannequin head and a traunch of guitar gear with the message, "When you're lonely in the vocal booth and ⁦@EvilJoeBarresi⁩ finds a solution."

Baressi produced the band's 2016 album, The Stage, and apparently has a knack for unorthodox solutions to common problems.

The vocal news isn't the first thing we've heard from Shadows this year about the album. In fact, he set out a timeline in April that included regrouping with Barresi in May and having Andy Wallace mix the album in August. Once that was completed, Shadows told The Bob Lefsetz Podcast, "Then we're going to figure out if it's the first quarter, or fourth quarter, or what we're going to do. So, the status is that, and then we're going to be booking tours, put the tickets on sale when the record comes out, and the whole nine yards."

Does Shadows' tweet line up with a late 2022 release or are we going to have to wait until 2023 for new A7X? We'll see, but for now you can peep the tweet and the amazing companion mannequin head below.
