Machine Gun Kelly Stabbed Himself Trying to Catch Knife to Impress Megan Fox

Pop-punk renaissance man needed stitches after failed stunt

2021 has been a year of ups and downs for Machine Gun Kelly. The rapper-turned-pop-punker continued dating his one-time celebrity crush, Megan Fox, but he also became enemy No. 1 of maggots worldwide after randomly dissing Slipknot on-stage at Riot Fest and then getting embroiled in a back-and-forth with Corey Taylor on Twitter. That resulted in him getting ferociously booed at the metal festival he played shortly after waging war with the Iowa maniacs, but at least he wasn't physically injured from those battles the way he was when he tried to do some cool-guy shit to impress his model girlfriend.

As the 31-year-old artist, real name Colson Baker, explained during his recent appearance on the Tonight Show, he ended up needing stitches on his hand last year after he tried to woo his then-new girlfriend by tossing a knife into the air with the intente of catching it. Shockingly, the stunt didn't go as planned.

"[It happened] right when I was starting to date Megan," MGK told Jimmy Fallon on the December 1st episode. "Travis [Barker, MGK's collaborator] got me a knife that had an engraving from the new album on it. I was like, 'Yo, check this out, this is sick . . . I threw it up and it stuck in my hand. You know how you throw it up, and you're supposed to catch it? I looked at her and I was like, 'check this out.'"

Apparently, the Tickets to My Downfall singer tried to play off the injury and pretend that he was totally OK, but once she was out of his sights the next day, he decided he needed serious medical assistance. "The next morning, as soon as she left, I was like, 'yo, I need stitches real quick,'" he recalled.

Amazingly, that's not even the only cartoonish mishap that MGK revealed in the 10-minute interview. He also explained that he bruised his coccyx (tailbone) earlier this year before a beer pong match against Post Malone when he — again, trying to do some cool-guy shit — slid down a railing during his walkout and ended up slamming his ass into a nail at the bottom.

To be fair, MGK has a great sense of humor about all of these slapstick fumbles, so whether you love him or hate him, it's worth watching him tell the tales above via YouTube.
