Machine Head's Phil Demmel and Dave McClain Quit, Farewell Tour Announced

Robb Flynn: "I have held on too tight to the reigns of the band. I have suffocated those guys."

UPDATE: In a follow-up Instagram video, Robb Flynn has clarified that Machine Head's upcoming dates will serve as the farewell tour for the band's current lineup. The long-term future of the group has yet to be determined, he said. Watch the full clip below.

ORIGINAL STORY: In a Facebook live video earlier today, Machine Head frontman Rob Flynn announced the sudden departure of guitarist Phill Demmel and drummer Dave McClain on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Flynn also states in the clip that bassist Jared MacEachern "kind of quit" but he "wasn't sure if he's quitting for good," before going on to openly admit that his own controlling tendencies led to the rift. "I have held on too tight to the reigns of this band," says Flynn. "And I have suffocated those guys. I got some rough edges, I'm kind of a barnacle, and you know, those rough edges have given us the success we have, but they've also hurt the people around me."
