Mars Volta's First Show in 10 Years: See Video and Setlist

Reunited prog vets dusted off old classics as well as playing new cuts

Last week, the Mars Volta released their first new album in a decade — a mellower, more concise self-titled LP that veers dramatically from their proggy signature sound — and last night (September 22nd), at The Factory in Deep Ellum in their home state of Texas, the band kicked off their reunion tour with a career-spanning 15-song set. (See the full setlist below, courtesy of setlist.fm.)

The Mars Volta played just two songs off the new album, and otherwise leaned most heavily on their classic debut LP, De-Loused in the Comatorium, alongside a few favorites from Frances the Mute, Amputechture and their final pre-hiatus offering, 2012's Noctourniquet. They even played "Inertiatic ESP," which singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala recently revealed Metallica had once requested that they play live and they had turned them down.
