Mastodon have revealed plans to drop a new track — which guitarist Brent Hinds cheekily described to Kerrang! as "a fun listen" — ahead of their upcoming U.K. tour (it kicks off January 14th). The group confirmed that they were in the studio last month when drummer Brann Dailor posted a shot to Instagram featuring guitarist Bill Kelliher welding his trusty axe with the caption "New music? Yep."

Dailor says of the forthcoming song, "It's as heavy as I've heard us in a while," while Kelliher echoes those thoughts, calling the track "brutal" and "a basher." Adding to the heaviness, the cut will feature a guest spot from metal heavyweight and frequent Mastodon collaborator Scotty Kelly, frontman of post-metal stalwarts Neurosis, among innumerable other projects.

After Mastodon hit the road in the U.K. and Europe with Kvelertak and Mutoid Man, they will return Stateside in Mayto hit the stage with Foo Fighters, Evanescence, Korn, the Prodigy and more for North Carolina's Epicenter Festival 2019. Find a full list of dates and ticketing information here.
