"It's no secret that Thin Lizzy has had a big influence on Mastodon's music," says bassist Troy Sanders, announcing a sentiment shared by countless musicians in the heavy music community today. "Being asked to join them on stage is a big deal and true honor to me. I am really looking forward to it!"

The Atlanta progressive rocker will join the Irish rock stalwarts later this summer when they play a series of festivals in the U.K. and Europe focusing on the 40th anniversary of Thin Lizzy's album Black Rose, considered by many to be the last true classic in their discography. Guitarist Scott Gorham says in the announcement of the pairing, "We are very happy to welcome Troy to the Lizzy family! We met a few years ago at Download festival and he's a great guy and killer bass player to boot so very happy he wanted to join us for the shows this summer."

Ricky Warwick, lead vocalist since 2010 following a string of replacements for the late vocalist-bassist Phil Lynott after his death in 1986, backs up Gorham: "Mastodon are a fantastic band and knowing how much of a Thin Lizzy fan Troy is, he will be an amazing addition to the fold."
