Earlier this week, Tool announced the release date of their beyond-highly anticipated new album — August 30th — broadcasting the date on big screens during their performance in Birmingham, Alabama, and then sharing a video reiterating the date via Twitter. To be fair, fans who have been waiting through 13 years of rumors, disinformation and endless hype can hardly be blamed for being just a little skeptical. Also, to be fair, neither of Tool's proclamations of "August 30" explicitly stated what the date was, leading some, not unreasonably, to question whether it was, in fact, the release date of the album.
Tool singer Maynard James Keenan has seemingly put all this to rest. Today (May 10th) he posted a meme to Twitter cheekily portraying how skeptically "every Tool fan" has been reacting to the announcement, while underlining the date: "Yes. #yesitis," he wrote. We suspect many fans still won't believe it until the album actually comes out on August 30th. Only 112 days to go.
