After consistently shutting down any rumors regarding progress toward a new Tool album, singer Maynard James Keenan has offered up an encouraging update as to the band's follow-up to 2006's 10,000 Days.
"Started getting music files from the boys w the word FINAL in the title a few months ago after 11 years of begging," Keenan tweeted tonight (February 16th). "That in theory means the tracks wont change out from under me while I'm trying to write stories and melodies to them. In theory. Still waiting for the FINAL on 1."
"Words & Melodies 100% DONE on all but 1. Someday we'll track them. Long way from the finish line, but at least we're closer."
Earlier today Tool guitarist Adam Jones commented on Sebastian Bach and Buzz Osborne's recent visit to Tool HQ to hear new music with his own update: "Huge fun & honor performing all the new tunes for Guinea pigs Sebastian & #KingBuzz b4 the recording starts in March," Jones posted on his Instagram. "Still instrumentals with Mjk [Maynard James Keenan] in town working on killer lyrics. Exciting!"
