Maynard James Keenan: "You're Gonna See Some New Music Next Year"

Singer teases Tool album progress at Metal Hammer Golden Gods ceremony

Maynard James Keenan gave a tantalizing update on new music last night (June 11th) while accepting the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Icon Award at a ceremony at London, England, venue IndigO2. "A lot of work's being done, a lot of work's been done," the rocker told the crowd, going on to promise: "I'll go on record now saying you're gonna see some new music next year.

While the singer didn't name names in his proclamation, chances are good that he was referring to Tool's long-awaited new album, given his labor-intensive framing of the creative process and the band's recent footage of studio sessions for the new LP. But then again, maybe he's talking about another Puscifer album, or perhaps a different project entirely, or maybe he was talking about new music in general, by anyone. Only Keenan knows for sure — and as fans know for sure, he's not exactly one for spilling the beans.

Check out our run-down of everything we know about the new Tool album so far, and stay posted for more studio updates.
