MEGADETH and MARTY FRIEDMAN: See behind the scenes video of first reunion in 23 years

Footage shows intimate "family reunion" with 'Rust in Peace'-era guitarist
Marty Friedman Megadeth behind the scenes 1600x900

Last week, Megadeth made old-school fans happy by reuniting onstage with former guitarist Marty Friedman, who played on some of the band's most beloved albums (Rust in Peace, Countdown to Extinction, etc.) before departing the thrash pioneers in 2000. During Megadeth's February 27th show in Tokyo, Friedman joined the band onstage for a few songs, marking his first reunion with the group in 23 years.

Now, footage has emerged of Friedman, Dave Mustaine and the rest of Megadeth's current lineup meeting one another backstage before the show — the first time Mustaine and Friedman had seen each other in over two decades.

The 11-minute video begins with Friedman talking about how excited he is to step onstage with Mustaine again, and then follows him backstage as he meets face-to-face with Megadeth and prepares for their rehearsals. There're a few shots of the actual performance, including side-stage footage of Friedman before he walked out to huge applause, and then six minutes of footage showing Friedman and Megadeth hanging out on couches and talking about the experience.
