Metallica to Headline All Five Danny Wimmer Presents Hard-Rock Fests in 2020

Thrash OGs will play 10 different headlining sets across Epicenter, Louder Than Life, Sonic Temple, Aftershock and Welcome to Rockville

Rumors of a Metallica/Danny Wimmer collaboration popped up earlier this week when the groundbreaking metal band launched a mysterious countdown clock on a new website that aligned with some intriguing viral advertising put forth by the hard-rock festivals headed by Wimmer. Now those rumblings are confirmed: Metallica will not only headline all five of Wimmer's U.S. rock festivals, but they'll also play two separate headlining sets at each event. The fests included are Epicenter (May 1st-3rd) in Charlotte, North Carolina; Welcome to Rockville (May 8th-10th) in Daytona Beach, Florida; Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival (May 15th-17th) in Columbus, Ohio; Louder Than Life (September 18th-20th) in Louisville, Kentucky; and Aftershock (October 9th-11th) in Sacramento, California.

Making the performances more special is the fact that they will be the only chance to see Metallica at U.S. festivals in 2020, and the band will formulate 10 different set lists so that no two nights will be the same. On top of that, the group will continue their charitable streak by donating 25 cents from each ticket sale to their All Within My Hands foundation that is "dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services."

To celebrate the occasion, Danny Wimmer Presents is holding a Golden Ticket Contest wherein the winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to their choice of festival to watch both nights of Metallica from the famed "Snake Pit," plus "rock star" accomodations, special meet and greets, exclusive festival access, memorabilia and more.

"I can't wait to bring the biggest band in the world to the biggest rock festivals in America," Wimmer enthused. "Metallica paved this road that we travel. How many artists on the bill at these five festivals first picked up an instrument, or first started a band, because of Metallica?"
