Metallica are reaching a new generation of fans due to a scene in season 4 of Stranger Things that prominently features their thrash masterpiece, "Master of Puppets." Unfortunately, their sudden notoriety outside of the metal world is rubbing some cranky headbangers the wrong way. One snobby metal fan went so far as to comment, "I'm sorry Metallica for all the fake Stranger Things fans love ya," on a TikTok Metallica posted of them performing "Master of Puppets" live.

Rather than letting the gatekeeping slide, the band replied to that commenter and emphasized how thrilled they are to have these new listeners discovering their band for the first time.

"Don't be sorry. Everyone is welcome in the Metallica Family," they wrote. "If they like Puppets, chances are they'll find plenty of other songs to get into."

That's the spirit. See the TikTok below to view the video and the interaction.
