Last night (November 6th), Metallica played an old-school fan's dream show. At the 7,000-capacity Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, the thrash pioneers performed a set exclusively comprised of songs off their first two albums, 1983's Kill 'Em All and 1984's Ride the Lightning.
The occasion was a celebration of the life and legacy of Megaforce Records founder Jon "Jonny Z" Zazula and his wife, Marsha, who died in 2022 and 2021, respectively. Megaforce launched Metallica's career by releasing the aformentioned albums before they signed to major label Elektra.
Metallica's 16-song tribute set was evenly split their first two records down the middle, eight songs from Kill 'Em All and eight from Ride the Lightning, making for an epic throwback to the band's fast-and-loud early days.
