Miley Cyrus Covers Metallica, Nine Inch Nails at Glastonbury Festival

Pop star flexed metal chops with takes on "Nothing Else Matters," "Head Like a Hole" at massive English festival

On Sunday, June 30th, at England's massive Glastonbury Festival, pop singer Miley Cyrus flexed her impressive vocal range and love for heavier music with covers of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" and Nine Inch Nails' "Head Like a Hole."

The latter is a nod to the singer's recent appearance in the show Black Mirror in which she plays an isolated megastar who performs a re-worked version of the NIN cut. Nine Inch Nails themselves, in addition to giving permission for the cover to happen, even sold officially licensed shirts to commemorate the pairing.

Cyrus' cover of "Nothing Else Matters" is a soaring but faithful version of the thrashers' 1991 classic. The song made its online debut via BBC Radio 1's Rock Show With Daniel P Carter (listen here and skip to 1:06:00 for Miley or here isolated track above).

The pop star sprinkled the set with other covers as well, including her famous take on Dolly Parton's "Jolene" and a pairing with Mark Ronson to pay tribute to Amy Winehouse with a snippet of the late singer's "Back to Black." Before Glastonbury, Cyrus made her love for the heavier side of music known when she took the stage at January's "I Am The Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell" event in Los Angeles – see more here
