Mudvayne is recording new music, according to recent Instagram posts from vocalist Chad Gray. The singer shared a photo of himself in the studio and mentioned laying down vocals with the hashtag #Mudvayne before confirming the news a few days later.

Mudvayne's last release was the band's 2009 self-titled album, which came out just weeks before the nu-metal mutants took an 11-year hiatus. Then in 2021, they shocked the rock world by reuniting, and have been touring and headlining festivals ever since, with a 2023 tour with Coal Chamber, GWAR, Nonpoint and Butcher Babies booked for the summer.

"Just being all psycho crushing some HEAVY ASS VOX IN TEXAS! Don't mess wit' it! -Mad Boy #mudvayne #wereallinthistogether," Gray posted somewhat cryptically this week.

On April 13th, Gray gave fans the confirmation they were hoping for. "It's been a wild few days. From home to DFW to demo up some new Mudvayne!" he wrote." This will be the first music we have released in 14 years! Still not exactly sure when it will release but yeah…it's coming!"

In a September 2022 interview with Revolver, Gray spoke about Mudvayne sharing ideas for new material. "We've done a little bit of file sharing or whatever. Just some riffs," Gray revealed. "Greg [Tribbett, guitar] went into the studio in Texas. He lived in Texas. He went in there and just laid some stuff down, sent it to Matt. Matt put just a really simple metronome drum beat to it. I was working on it. It's pretty rad, different stuff. I've got a few different angles that I'm working with kind of how I want it to be, my parts anyway. But it's cool, it's cool. And obviously we're not going to put something out if I don't feel like it stands up."
