Neurosis' Steve Von Till Shares Stunning "Indifferent Eyes" Performance, Announces Summer Tour

From "A Remote Wilderness" concert film previously seen only by Roadburn Redux viewers

Neurosis guitarist-vocalist Steve Von Till has kept busy throughout the pandemic. In 2020, he released a gorgeously haunting solo album, No Wilderness Deep Enough, and a book of poetry (Harvestman: 23 Untitled Poems and Collected Lyrics), and then in 2021 he released an ambient LP titled A Deep Voiceless Wilderness and premiered a stunning concert film called "A Remote Wilderness" at last year's Roadburn Festival, dubbed Roadburn Redux. That set was previously only seen by viewers of the digital event, but now Revolver is proud to be gearing up to exclusively premiere the entire performance ahead of Von Till's upcoming full summer tour, which he's announced today (February 28th).

To pair with the exciting news, we're debuting a portion of "A Remote Wilderness" that sees Von Till and his cast of talented bandmates playing the song "Indifferent Eyes," which appeared on No Wilderness Deep Enough. Everything from the stark instrumentation and Von Till's emotional, gravelly vocals to the videography and the setting is positively breathtaking. Watch it above via YouTube.

"'No Wilderness Deep Enough' was new territory for me sonically, emotionally, and vocally," Von Till explained, "that I had been intently looking forward to the challenge of gathering a small group of musicians capable of interpreting it and putting myself out there in that uncomfortable but exciting realm of self-growth. It wasn't to be. Our live musical universe had been put on pause."

He continued, "Not wanting to lose the moment, I dreamt of having the set filmed professionally in a beautiful location with a nice piano and great sound. The answer came in the form of Roadburn Festival from Holland and their commitment to having a high quality online festival in 2021 . . . The end result, 'A Remote Wilderness' is something I am very proud to have been a part of and I am grateful to all the people and their hard work to make it happen."

In addition to the Von Till, who wrote the music and the lyrics, sings and plays both piano and guitar, the performance includes Dave French (synthesizer, percussion, guitar), cellist Lori Goldston (who performed live with Nirvana from 1993-1994), David Lutz (synthesizer), Eric Padget (french horn) and Oli Eshlemen (pedal steel). The audio was recorded by Chris Rahm at Robert Lang Studios in Seattle, Washington, on April 1st 2021, while Bobby Cochran handled videography, lighting and editing with assistance from Steven Dangerfield. The whole thing was mixed by Von Till and French, and the beautiful handwritten titles come courtesy of Niela Von Till.

Now, fans throughout the U.S. will finally be able to witness these songs in-person during Von Till's upcoming summer tour. The 27-date run begins July 1st in Minneapolis and will hit both coasts of the country before concluding in Boise, ID, on August 16th.

Von Till's band for the upcoming tour features cellist Helen Money — who will also be serving as support with her own solo set — French (synthesizer, guitar, percussion) and Sanford Parker (keyboards, synths). Tickets for the month-and-a-half long trek go on sale this Friday March 4th at 10 a.m. local time and will be available for purchase here.
