Ozzy Finishes New Solo Album, Didn't Know Who Post Malone Was Before Collaboration

As metal fans know all too well, Ozzy Osbourne has been sidelined for many months, recuperating in his Los Angeles home following a rough string of medical incidents, and just barely getting his feet wet in music again. Then his inimitable voice popped up on Post Malone's recently released collaboration with the Black Sabbath legend "Take What You Want." And now, in seemingly miraculous news, Osbourne has revealed to U.K. tabloid The Sun that he's finished his forthcoming 12th solo album and the first since 2010's Scream — and did so in just four weeks. "I said to [wife and manager] Sharon that I didn't feel like I'd made an album because we haven't ended up screaming at each other," he quipped.

The currently untitled record has an even weirder origin story. Apparently, Ozzy was inspired after laying down vocals for Post's "Take What You Want." "I'd never even heard of this kid. He wanted me to sing on his song, so I did and then one thing led to another," Ozzy said. After that, he hooked up with Post's producer Andrew Watt to make his own new music. "If it wasn't for making this record, I would still be on traction, thinking, 'I'm going to be lying here forever,'" the singer explained. "I've missed music so badly. My fans are so loyal and so good. Up until making the album, I thought I was dying. But that got me off my arse."

No word yet on a release date or who the instrumentalists are on the album, but Osbourne did say that it's nine-tracks in length. Clearly, you cannot keep the Prince of Darkness down for long.
